Job Description

The IT Specialist I will provide software and network support, training, troubleshooting, printer and computer support. Provides software support for Windows, and MS application software such as MS Office.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. HelpDesk Ticket Queue Management

  2. Documentation and Site Document Management

  3. Resource Calendar Management to assist in project time tables and scheduling

  4. Acts as technology support to the agency users via Remote/Phone, and Deskside Support for computers and phones.

  5. Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide range of software used throughout the agency on a Windows-based network.

  6. User Access Management (e.g. create and manage user accounts, create user groups, manage shared resources, install peripherals, and configure security).

  7. Trains users in startup, basic and advanced use of software programs including EMR databases, Outlook (electronic mail) and calendaring, Microsoft Office.

  8. Attains up-to-date industry knowledge of software and hardware used by the agency.

  9. Assists in evaluation and testing of software and planning for future needs.

  10. Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the agency.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Requires technical knowledge to provide support for computers, network, and applications.

  • Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain all of the software, hardware, accessory equipment, and basic networking of the agency.

  • Requires experience with personal computer equipment. Must have advanced skills in personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets.

  • Requires sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions.

  • Prefer knowledge of how to assemble and disassemble personal computer components, including cabling.

     

    Abilities

  • Requires the ability to independently perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.

  • Must have strong communication and training skills and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users. 

    Physical Skills and Abilities

    Depending on the assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 - 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.

     

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. Requires travel to satellite sites.

    Valid license and safe, reliable, insured vehicle required.

     

     

Education Requirements

Position requires an AA/AS degree in computer related field or two years relevant experience; a BA/BS degree in computer science or related discipline; or the combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
