Location: Barre, VT
Peer Support Staff are responsible for facilitating Peer Support and Recovery groups in the Northern State Correctional Facility, helping to determine what supports pilot participants will need to successfully reintegrate into the communities they are releasing to. Peer Support Staff will communicate that information to the SIPS Project Manager and participate in monthly reentry planning meetings with pilot participants and regional reentry teams.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reference their own lived experience with mental health, addiction, trauma and/or homelessness and incarceration.
Have demonstrated stable recovery-successfully reintegrated in their community and avoided incarceration, psychiatric hospitalization, and/or placement in residential addiction facilities for at least 1 year prior to beginning work as paid Peer Support Staff.
Have received training in Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Intentional Peer Support, and/or Recovery Coaching.
Abide by the SIPS Code of Ethics at all times while working with pilot participants in correctional facilities and the communities participants are released to.
Adhere to all DOC policies, procedures and directives as it relates to the safe, secure, and orderly operation of Vermont’s correctional facilities.
Keep regular group attendance and complete Arizona Self-Sufficiency Outcomes Matrixes and other data collection instruments. Provide these materials to the Project Manager at quarterly intervals.
7. Engage in monthly supervision sessions with the Project Manager
Experience:Prefer experience with incarceration with successful reintegration into the community and/or personal experience with mental health and addiction challenges.
Other: Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and access to safe, insured vehicle required.
